Roshni is looking ahead to build a healthy stronger community in coming days. Apart from deficiency of nutrition, potable drinking water and curative medicines, non-accessibility to immediate medical support adds to the misery of community members. Many hamlets of Hangal have already become the victims of HIV/AIDS.

To support the health needs of the people Roshni provides curative and preventive health care support through its dispensary as well as mobile clinic. Programmes are designed to provide access and referrals to both Government and community based resources. Also community awareness on hygiene, safe drinking water, sustainable health conditions are providedthrough awareness songs, street plays, slogan writings and rally. Free health care and eye care camps are conducted in collaboration with other charitable groups. This is a small step taken by Roshni in building a healthy hygiene society by promoting Physical and Psychological wellbeing all around.

Roshni De-addiction center

Having noted serious problem of alcoholism, Roshni established de-addiction centre in year 2008 to cater to the needs of people with various substance abuse. One month de-addiction treatment is provided to the addicts on a regular basis. Yoga, prayer, occupational therapy, indoor and outdoor games, thought for the day, psychological re-educative sessions, individual and family counseling, group therapy, physician and psychiatric consultation etc., are part of the treatment. Various festivals are celebrated in the center to bring about cordiality among each other. Follow up of the patients is done until two years either through phone, visit or letters.

Every year sober day is celebrated along with Christmas celebration. On this day the sober patients of the previous year are honored in order to appreciate their efforts to recover from their disease of alcoholism.

  • Awareness on dangers of substance abuse is created among the high school and college students as well as the entire community of people.
  • Anti-drug abuse day is observed every year to create awareness on the ill effects of alcoholism and other substances
